Implementation of Modernized Study Programmes Begins at UBL

October 1, 2026

Within the framework of the SKILL2SUSTAIN project, students at the University of Banja Luka’s Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (AGGF) began classes on 1 October 2026 in three modernized study programmes covering Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy.

The implementation follows the modernization of six courses across the three programmes and the adoption of the relevant institutional decisions. The updated curricula integrate digital and green skills into academic teaching, addressing topics such as sustainable construction, the circular economy, energy efficiency, disaster risk management and fire safety. Students are also introduced to contemporary digital tools and approaches, including Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

The updated course content aims to strengthen the connection between academic knowledge and professional practice, while helping students develop the competencies needed to respond to current environmental, technological and societal challenges. By integrating sustainability principles and digital approaches into teaching, the modernized programmes support the development of a workforce better equipped for the green and digital transitions.

The commencement of teaching marks an important step in translating curriculum modernization into practice. It contributes to SKILL2SUSTAIN’s broader objective of raising awareness of digital and green education goals among higher education staff, students and professionals, while supporting the implementation of modernized study programmes and the continuous improvement of learning materials across the Western Balkans.
