Promotion of the SKILL2SUSTAIN Project at the 21st MASE Symposium

October 10, 2025

Prof. Dr. Anka Starčev-Ćurčin, member of the SKILL2SUSTAIN project management team from the University of Novi Sad, presented the project at the 21st International Symposium of the Macedonian Association of Structural Engineers (MASE), held on September 24-27, 2025, in Ohrid, North Macedonia.

Her presentation introduced the objectives and initial activities of the project and emphasized the crucial role of education and training in addressing the challenges of climate change and achieving the goals of the European Green Deal. It also highlighted the importance of integrating interdisciplinary knowledge – such as circular economy, energy efficiency, sustainable construction, disaster resilience, and the application of digital tools like Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) – into higher education curricula to strengthen competitiveness and innovation in the region.

The Symposium, themed “Structural Engineering – Limitless”, explored transformative technologies in structural engineering, including data-driven design, sensor technologies, IoT applications in AEC, and sustainable construction materials, bringing together researchers, industry experts, and distinguished speakers to discuss new opportunities for resilient and sustainable structural solutions.
