SKILL2SUSTAIN Research Presented at the International Conference GNP 2026

March 18, 2026

Research conducted within the SKILL2SUSTAIN project was presented at the 10th International Conference “Civil Engineering – Science and Practice (GNP 2026)”, held from 4–7 March 2026 at Avala Resort & Villas in Budva, Montenegro.

Organized by the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Montenegro, the conference brought together researchers, academics, and professionals from across the region and beyond to present recent achievements and discuss the latest developments in civil engineering science and practice.

Within the conference program, Prof. Dr Mirjana Laban presented the paper titled “Needs for Development of Digital and Green Skills – Montenegro”highlighting key findings from research conducted within the SKILL2SUSTAIN project.

The study focuses on identifying the current level of digital and green competencies and the training needs of key stakeholder groups in Montenegro, including public institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and university students.

The results highlight a strong and growing demand for hybrid competencies that combine digital technologies and sustainability-oriented knowledge, particularly in areas such as energy efficiency, circular economy, BIM, data analytics, and AI-supported tools.

The research also confirms that universities play a key role in supporting the green and digital transition by developing interdisciplinary curricula, practical training opportunities, and collaboration with industry and public institutions.

Participation in the GNP 2026 conference provided an excellent opportunity to share project results, exchange knowledge with international experts, and strengthen regional cooperation in advancing digital and green skills across the Western Balkans.
