The Western Balkan partner higher education institutions participating in the Erasmus+ SKILL2SUSTAIN project have officially adopted the Digital and Green Initiative for WBC Education in Academia, establishing a common framework for advancing digital and green education across the region.

The Initiative has been adopted by the University of Montenegro, University of Tirana, Polytechnic University of Tirana, University of Banja Luka, and University College “CEPS – Center for Business Studies” Kiseljak, reflecting their shared vision of fostering future-oriented education aligned with the priorities of the European Green Deal, the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, and the Digital Decade.

Developed within Work Package 2 of the SKILL2SUSTAIN project, the Initiative builds on an analysis of European good practices, the current landscape of digital and green education within Western Balkan higher education institutions, and the needs identified by relevant stakeholders for the development of new skills and competencies.

The Initiative establishes a strategic framework for embedding digital and green competencies into higher education through the modernisation of curricula, promotion of interdisciplinary approaches, enhanced cooperation with industry and public institutions, strengthening of research and innovation capacities, and support for lifelong learning.

To ensure that the Initiative reflects the specific national contexts of the Western Balkan region, each partner institution prepared, adopted, and signed its own bilingual version in English and its national language. As a result, the Initiative was developed in five language versions: English, Montenegrin, Albanian, Serbian, and Bosnian.
