As part of the Erasmus+ SKILL2SUSTAIN project, the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering (UL FGG) hosted two training cycles for academic staff from partner institutions.

The first training cycle took place from 11 to 15 May 2026, while the second was held from 7 to 10 July 2026. Five participants from the University of Tirana, University of Banja Luka, University of Montenegro, and University College “CEPS – Center for Business Studies” in Kiseljak took part in the programmes.

The training visits covered a wide range of topics related to digitalisation, green skills and resilience, including GeoBIM, BIM lifecycle management, 3D cadastre, GIS, geospatial digital twins, remote sensing, Earth observation, blue and green infrastructure, natural hazards, disaster-risk reduction, climate resilience, geological and geotechnical investigations, and emergency management.

The programmes combined expert presentations, practical demonstrations, laboratory and field activities, and visits to relevant institutions. Participants visited the Geological Survey of Slovenia, the City of Ljubljana Civil Protection and Disaster Relief Unit, and the Ljubljana Fire Brigade, gaining first-hand insight into hazard assessment, monitoring, preparedness and emergency response.

An important outcome of the visits was the identification of concrete opportunities for future bilateral cooperation, including curriculum development, joint research and publications, guest lectures, teaching-material exchange, academic mobility, and international project cooperation. Areas of potential cooperation include BIM and AI in geodesy, 3D cadastre, GIS, natural hazards, hydrology and the use of spatial data.

The training visits strengthened knowledge exchange between partner institutions and provided valuable input for curriculum modernisation, the development of digital and green competencies, and future academic and research cooperation.
